Louis Amato-Gauci is a partner with Miller Thomson LLP in Toronto, where he serves as lead counsel in private company mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance transactions and reorganizations in various industry sectors. Louis provides strategic advice to clients in all modes of transportation and in the warehousing and logistics sectors on regulatory compliance, safety matters, operating procedures and contracting practices. He is frequently consulted by motor coach operators and school bus companies with regard to licensing and operational issues arising under the Motor Vehicle Transport Act (Canada) and the Public Vehicles Act (Ontario), and has represented applicants and opposing parties at hearings regarding public necessity and convenience.
Louis is a graduate of the University of Toronto: B.A. (Hist. & Engl. – 1995; J.D. – 1998). He completed his articles of clerkship at Morris/Rose/Ledgett LLP and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2000. He is a recognized leader in the field of transportation law, and has been ranked based on peer review as “most frequently recommended” in Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory – Transportation (Road and Rail); Lexpert® 2018 Guide to US/Canada Cross-Border Lawyers in Canada – Trade; and Best Lawyers in Canada® – Aviation Law, Transportation Law.
